"Be the change you wish to see in the world"
I believe this quote is a representation of who I am and what I stand for
As an aspiring model, photographer, public speaker, and advocate I have often found myself wondering how and where my inspiration came from
the truth is that my inspiration comes from YOU
YOU beautiful, intriguing, wonderful, terrifying, thriving person YOU
And it is because of you that I have worked up the courage to personally express the experiences that led me here
One experience was a speech that I did not intend to give. I was asked by an amazing individual to talk to students about coming from a divorced family. To my surprise it was more than an amazing experience, it was a gift. After the speech I was approached by students who would cry, hug, and thank me and I found that it was not the recognition of my story that astonished me but the ability to connect and help individuals who could relate.
Following this, I want to prepare you for an experience you may not expect. Please keep in mind that I am choosing to share this with you not because I want you to feel bad but, to show you that you can help create a change as well.
So here it goes.
When I was 16 I was raped and I never told a soul. It was not until four years later that I decided to talk about it. I can not express to you, the fear, or amount of pain that comes from this experience but, what I can tell you is that it is possible to move forward. I want you to know that I have forgiven him, I have healed, and I have used this experience to keep me going.
Ultimately, my goal is to help
More specifically, I believe modeling and photography is a way in which art can be used to inspire and be a role model and I see public speaking/advocacy as a way in which I can personally share my experiences with you and express two things:
1. You are not alone
2. You can make a change
